Vocal adoration toward God: PRAISE

Definition of a HEALTHY church:

I love to watch your face when you sing the words to the hymn "The Old Rugged Cross"

I love to see you raise your hands and lift your face toward Heaven in praise towards God with complete abandonment

Are we :
Are we healthy?
Are we aware?
Are we self focused?
Are we critical?
Are we too concerned with our surroundings?
Are we praising Jesus?
Am I in love with Jesus?

God's word says: "He inhabits the praise of His people."

Just some random thoughts from my reading this week.
WINNING THE BALL...

Cam got stitches above his left eye two days before prom, just in time for his eye to turn green, purple and black. He matched his date's egg plant colored dress perfectly. How did this happen? How do any injuries occur in this family? soccer... He went up for a header and bashed heads with this other guy from the visiting team. Cam rolled and popped right up. The other guy was down for the count. The game continued on, until the ref spotted Cam's blood all over the field and his face. nice. He came out with ten stitches and the other guy had nine.

Funny thing, when we told the little kids before school the next day what happened to their bro the night before, they both asked the same question: "did he atleast win the ball?" Steve answered... "it's Cam, what do you think?" Ha! Is it always gonna be this competetive around here?

lessons
As you can see, we had an awesome time in Chicago. I learned a great deal about healing and friendships as well. Even though I was convinced I was going to take Chicago by storm, check out and just have fun, I still learned a few things. Learning and gleaning from Jesus seem to be everyday steps i am taking to be free lately. Whew! Sometimes, it's painful! I remember saying good bye, not long ago to a dear friend in the airport and I remember the pain of losing a loved one. The way God uses our heart to speak to us is amazing. He feels that pain. Jesus uses that pain to reach in to the very core of our being and speak. He goes after our heart and cares about the desires of our heart. It's that odd? That the God of the Universe would care about my little heart? He speaks to us through His holy spirit and desires a deeper relationship with us. A self reliant person will not be able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. hmmm.... I am pretty self reliant, most of the time, unless a crisis evolves in my heart.

These thoughts are kinda random, but as I reflect back over the last week, it makes sense to me. My friends and I watched the Broadway show "Jersey Boys" on Thursday night, the first night we were in Chicago. Not only was the music amazing and most of the songs I knew, the story line was gut wrenching as well. Whew it was intense! The story of the "four seasons" was real and filled with heart break. They were void of the Holy spirit and couldn't hear the voice of Jesus. They had no hope. Frankie Valli was heart broken over the overdose of his daughter and the heartbreak of lost love. He had no hope... so incredibly lost. To be honest, i could relate a bit to that lost feeling. I am sure that is we were all honest with one another, we have all been there at one time or another in our lives.

HOPE? I am reminded of this hope today as I reflect over the last week. God is oh so good to give us hope. I was listening to a message a while back... "Waiting through Pain". Mary and Martha had hope that Jesus would come when their brother Lazarus died. They prayed and waited. They waited three days. When Jesus finally came. They were not angry. Their response was matter of fact. Jesus, Lazarus is dead. They had prayed... waited... they had hope. This Easter season, we too can have hope in Jesus. Am I letting the Holy Spirit be heard in my circumstances? Are you? Do you choose to have hope and wait patiently to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit through your pain and circumstances? Am I looking for Him?

Off to the windy city...I keep getting asked the question: What conference are you attending? Conference? why must I go to a conference in order to get away for a few days? Creative arts Directors need a break sometimes, too. It feels a little wrong to be doing this during the crazy Easter season, and I am truly hoping I can relax and turn my brain off. Dramas are set, videos are loaded, rehearsals planned, speakers contacted. Everything is all set and ready to rock! But, there is no conference... it is just for kicks! seriously, just for the heck of it! I'm going away for a few days with a few buddies and we are gonna shop, eat, go to a Broadway Play, eat, and laugh alot. I'm most excited about eating some of Chicago's amazing food. How fun, to just get away, relax and talk for hours about nothing relevant to saving the world's economy.

Ok, so as soon as the service is done on Sunday, (which is going to be amazing and you should consider bringing friends to...) our family will be taking off and driving to St. Louis to visit with some dear old friends. I am looking forward to this time of renewal and joy restoration. Please pray for safety on the roads and time well spent.

Confernce? Absolutely not! Learning to let go... ABSOLUTELY!
